BOSOMTWE GIRLS STEM SHS ROBOTICS TEAM RECEIVES HERO’S WELCOME AFTER TRIUMPHANT WORLD ROBOFEST RUN

The all-female robotics team from Bosomtwe Girls STEM Senior High School has returned to Ghana to a resounding hero’s welcome following their stellar performance at the 2026 World RoboFest Championships in the United States.

The triumphant squad touched down at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, where they were met with an electric atmosphere filled with celebration. Family members, school management, the school’s cadet corps, and a vibrant cultural troupe gathered at the arrival hall to honor the students for their remarkable international representation.

The team made Ghana and the Ashanti region proud by securing an impressive fourth-place finish in the highly competitive ‘time trial battle sumu’ category. The young innovators went head-to-head against more than 60 competing schools from across the globe, showcasing exceptional technical skill, teamwork, and innovation on the world stage.

Speaking during the welcome ceremony, speakers and school officials underscored the significance of the achievement, calling it a major milestone for the school and a testament to the potential of the girl child in science and technology. They emphasized the critical need for increased investment in female STEM education to further enhance Ghana’s growing technological landscape.

While celebrating their success, the team and their coaches also highlighted the intense challenges of competing at the highest international level. They expressed an urgent need for continued government support, resources, and corporate sponsorships, particularly as they shift their focus to upcoming global competitions, including the World Robot Olympiad scheduled for July.
