Atwima Mponua DCE Hands Over Waste Containers to Bolster District Sanitation

In a decisive move to improve public health and environmental standards, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has officially handed over a new fleet of waste containers to the District Environmental Officer.

The intervention follows a massive cleanup exercise led by the Assembly to clear long-standing refuse dumps that had plagued local neighborhoods for years. The new containers are intended to provide a sustainable waste management solution, ensuring that reclaimed spaces remain clean.

Strategic Distribution.

The containers are destined for several key communities that recently benefited from the refuse evacuation exercise. The priority areas include,Nyinahin Zongo,Nyinahin Market, Nyinahin Highways, Serebuorso,Anyinamso No. 1 & 2.

 

“These aren’t just bins; they are a promise to the residents that the days of ‘over-concentrated’ waste are over,” Hon. Issahak stated during the handover ceremony.

The DCE emphasized that while these five areas are the current priority, the Assembly’s vision is district-wide. Plans are already advanced to extend similar support to more communities to strengthen waste infrastructure across the entire district.

 

The procurement of these containers was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), which Hon. Issahak cited as a tangible example of the Assembly’s ongoing mission to foster a healthier environment for every citizen.

 

Hon. Issahak concluded with a call to action for the general public:

“As these containers are rolled out to their new homes, the message remains clear: Together, we can keep our communities clean and safe.”

The District Environmental Officer at the ceremony noted that clearing the dumps was only half the battle. “Providing these containers is how we prevent the problem from coming back,” he remarked, adding that placing modern tools directly into the heart of these communities empowers residents to take pride in their surroundings.

 

He extended appreciation to the government and the DCE for this laudable presentation which will go a long way to salvage sanitation challenges in the district.
