NDC National Chairman Pledges Completion of All Abandoned Projects to Save National Resources
By Anita Frimpong
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to prioritizing the completion of all abandoned infrastructure projects before initiating new ones. This move, he noted, is aimed at reducing national costs and ensuring that taxpayer-funded projects become lasting legacies.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the Ashanti Region, Chairman Asiedu Nketia expressed deep concern over the rising number of unfinished projects left behind by successive administrations. He described the trend of abandoning such works as a significant drain on the nation’s economy.
Chairman Nketia emphasized that allowing projects to deteriorate results in massive financial losses. He argued that since millions of taxpayer cedis are sunk into the initial phases of these developments, it is a matter of national necessity to see them through to completion, regardless of which administration broke ground.
“The country always runs at a loss when projects are left incomplete meanwhile previous governments spend millions to begin these works, and it is only right that they are finished for the benefit of the people.”He lamented.
He stressed that a future NDC government would prioritize these “predominant” unfinished sites to ensure the country’s resources are utilized efficiently.
In a related development within the Bekwai constituency, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Salifu Issaka, highlighted several key developmental interventions initiated during his tenure aimed at improving living standards.
Addressing residents, Hon. Issaka cited several ongoing and completed projects, including, infrastructure, construction of a 24-hour market to boost local commerce.
The development of new classroom blocks and the construction of CHPS Compounds to address healthcare challenges in the district.
The installation of 13 boreholes across various communities to enhance access to clean water.Youth Empowerment, the introduction of a youth apprenticeship program designed to equip young people with practical skills, promote self-reliance, and tackle unemployment.
The MCE’s remarks underscored a parallel focus on grassroots development, echoing the broader national conversation on project continuity and community welfare.
