Assemblyman Donates GH¢320,000 Worth of Hospital Equipment to Amansie South Health Facilities
The Assemblyman for Manso Takorase Electoral Area in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Dominic Bonsu (popularly known as 2PAC), has donated hospital equipment valued at GH¢320,000 to 25 health facilities across the district, including both government and private institutions.
The donation includes 50 hospital beds, 3 delivery beds, 10 wheelchairs, 50 thermometer guns, 5 blood pressure machines, 5 stretchers, 30 weighing scales, 5 televisions, and other essential items. The equipment was presented to improve healthcare delivery in the district.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon. Bonsu emphasized that the government alone cannot meet all the needs of the country. “The government belongs to all of us, so everyone should contribute what they can to build Ghana,” he said. He urged community members with resources to support local development, warning that wealth means little without good health. “You can own many cars, but if a hospital lacks basic equipment when you need care, it’s meaningless,” he added.
He stressed the importance of health, noting that the beds and equipment he donated could one day be used by anyone, including himself. “Good healthcare speeds up recovery and brings joy to patients,” he said. Hon. Bonsu also called on health facilities to prioritize maintenance of the equipment to encourage future donations.
The Assemblyman revealed that he is personally funding the construction of a modern toilet facility at Takorase Government School. “Work began two weeks ago and has already reached window level. It will be completed soon,” he said, encouraging fellow leaders to act swiftly when they have the means to help.
Amansie South District Director of Health Services, Dr. Ofosu, received the items on behalf of the facilities and thanked Hon. Bonsu for the generous support. “This is the biggest donation we’ve ever received. We will use it well, and Hon. Bonsu will see the results,” he promised.
Dr. Ofosu, however, raised concerns about high accommodation costs in the district, which he said are sometimes higher than in Kumasi, causing staff to live outside the area. He also called for improved security after a recent attack on a health worker who is now hospitalized.
Mr. Kwaku (Osama) Abonee, Chairman of Small-Scale Mining for Amansie South and West, attended the event and commended Hon. Bonsu. “Not everyone blessed with resources gives back to society. Hon. 2PAC is setting a powerful example,” he said.
