Three Confirmed Dead, Several Injured in Ajumako Kokoben Crash

A tragic head-on collision at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region has claimed three lives and left 11 others with injuries of varying degrees.

The crash happened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and involved a Toyota Isuzu with registration number GE 1361-25 and a Toyota Voxy with registration number CN 478-26.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, they received an emergency call around 12:10 p.m. and were at the scene within nine minutes.

Upon arrival, firefighters found four victims trapped in the mangled vehicles and managed to free them. Seven others had already been pulled out by bystanders before the rescue team showed up.

All the injured were handed over to medical staff and rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment.

A passenger at the scene told officials that the Toyota Voxy driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed when dust reduced visibility, causing him to crash head-on into the oncoming Isuzu.

The GNFS, however, noted that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.

After the rescue, firefighters cleared the wreckage and debris from the road, allowing traffic to flow freely again by about 2:07 p.m.
