Akoma plus Health And Wellness Foundation Observes World Heart Day

The Executive Director of Public Health Alliance International Ghana, Dr. Samuel Nuamah, has joined the world in observing World Heart Day, marked on 29th September 2025.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Nuamah highlighted the organization’s continuous commitment to promoting health care in Ghana, emphasizing that this year’s celebration forms part of their ongoing efforts to create awareness about heart-related diseases.

He explained that heart disease remains a major silent killer, often going unnoticed until it is too late. He, therefore, cautioned Ghanaians to take heart health seriously by adopting preventive measures and undergoing regular medical check-ups.

According to Dr. Nuamah, the organization has rolled out several programs aimed at educating the public on ways to maintain a healthy heart. He called on the government and other stakeholders to support their initiatives, noting that additional resources would help them reach more communities and individuals.
He also appealed to citizens and organizations willing to partner or assist them in their mission to help reduce the rate of heart-related deaths in Ghana.

He further advised Ghanaians to check their blood pressure regularly, ideally every week, and conduct medical tests every three months, including blood sugar, full blood count, liver function, and kidney function tests.

Dr. Nuamah concluded by urging the public to adopt healthy lifestyles, such as eating balanced meals, reducing fatty foods, alcohol intake, and smoking, to protect their hearts from diseases.
