DANGER LOOMS AT AMAANI M/A PRIMARY SCHOOL AS STUDENTS STUDY IN DILAPIDATED CLASSROOMS IN THE OFFINSO MUNICIPALITY.

Danger is looming at Amaani M/A Primary School in the Offinso municipality.

The deteriorating structure is close to collapsing with visible cracks in the walls indicating a lack of renovation since its initial construction.

The dilapidated building is a threat to the safety of the pupils, teachers and some residents. Teaching is being halted anytime during the peak of the rainy season.

The mud-based building, with crumpling walls and rusted dilapidated roofing fails to provide a secure environment, making teaching and learning challenging.

Speaking to the chairman of the PTA at Amaani M/A Primary School,Razak Mohamed,expressed concern about how the school has never been renovated since its existence. He appealed to government, nongovernmental organizations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.

The headteacher,Mr Abednego Akom also appealed to the government and nongovernmental organizations to come to their aid and help support the school with building materials such as roofing sheets, cement,nails, etc in order to complete the abandoned 4-classroom block which he together with his wife,a colleague teacher who is Very supportive and also the teachers of Amaani M/A Primary School have been able to put up.

He also expressed concern about the lack of a befitting accomodation for teachers in the school.

The unsightly structure made up of mud and riddled with cracks is not conducive for sound occupation.

The headmaster together with the teachers are currently inhabiting the dilapidated building which serves as teachers bungalow.

Highlighting other needs of the school, the headmaster cited inadequate teaching personnel,lack of teaching and learning resources,lack of a proper washroom, lack of computer laborator and a befitting teachers bungalow.
