Nana Akosua Pokuaa Urges President-Elect John Mahama to Complete Abandoned Projects in Ashanti Region

Nana Akosua Pokuaa, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Queenmother of the Bean (ntoma) Sellers Association, has made a heartfelt appeal to President-elect John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the completion of several key development projects in the Ashanti region. In particular, she highlighted the urgent need to complete the Krofrom Market, the Central Market Phase 2 project, and the rehabilitation of parts of the Kejetia Market, which was severely damaged by a fire years ago.

In an interview with Dokk Media news reporter Sibo Yamoah, Nana Akosua Pokuaa emphasized the importance of these projects, noting that their completion would provide essential support to market women and traders in the region. She explained that these infrastructure improvements are critical for the livelihoods of many, allowing them to resume their businesses and invigorate the local economy.

“The completion of these projects will not only improve the economic situation in Ashanti but also bolster the standing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region,” she stated. Nana Akosua Pokuaa believes that by fulfilling these promises, the NDC can secure enduring support from the people, ensuring the party’s continued strength in future elections.

In addition to her concerns about the abandoned projects, Nana Akosua Pokuaa expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s education system under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She particularly criticized the double-track system, which she described as detrimental to the education of senior high school (SHS) students.

She urged the new Education Minister-designate, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to take immediate steps to reform the education system. “It’s crucial to address the damage done to SHS institutions and ensure students receive a quality education that adequately prepares them for the future,” she emphasized.
