RAINSTORM TRAGEDY: 4-YEAR-OLD KILLED, BROTHER CRITICAL AFTER BUILDING COLLAPSE IN AWUTU

A four-year-old boy, Godsway Nuchuga, has lost his life, while his 35-year-old elder brother, Seth Nuchuga, is in critical condition following a building collapse at Awutu Papaase Number 1.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, during a heavy downpour. The victims were reportedly asleep in an “Atakpame” structure when it collapsed under the force of the rains.

Rescue efforts were mounted shortly after the incident, but the young boy was pronounced dead after being retrieved from the debris. His brother, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for urgent medical care.

Confirming the incident, the Awutu Senya West District Director of National Disaster Management Organisation, Salifu Adams, urged residents to take precautions as the rainy season intensifies.

Authorities say a full assessment of structures in the area has not yet begun, but the incident has raised fresh concerns about building safety during periods of heavy rainfall.
