Chief Clarifies Football Field Controversy in Abuontem

Abuontem, Bosomtwe District, Ashanti Region – October 21, 2025 – Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II, the Chief of Abuontem, has addressed claims that he seized the community’s football field, labeling them as baseless attempts to damage his reputation. In a statement released today, the chief explained that the traditional council’s decision to relocate the field for a palace construction was made to boost community development.

Upon taking office, Nana Akomea Sakyi Tutu II noticed the absence of a social gathering space, leading to the plan for a palace and community center. He reassured the youth that a temporary football field is currently in use while efforts are underway to build a proper pitch. “I am committed to developing Abuontem and improving residents’ lives,” he said.

The chief accused recent demonstrators opposing him of being individuals who sold community land plots before his installation. He dismissed their actions as a smear campaign, emphasizing his dedication to the community’s progress.
