Okaikwei North Expresses Hope for Integrity and Dignity in Justice System Under Chief Justice Nominee

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, has expressed her views on the nomination and vetting of Justice Paul Barffour Bonnie as Chief Justice.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Awuni stated that “God’s time is always the best,” and wished the nominee well in his pursuit of the high office. She prayed that Justice Bonnie would bring dignity, discipline, and integrity to Ghana’s justice system, adding that the country needs leaders who will uphold the law and restore public confidence in the judiciary.

According to Hon. Awuni, Justice Bonnie should be seen as a person who will protect the laws of the nation and strengthen the justice system. She emphasized that lawyers and judges play a crucial role in ensuring fairness and transparency in legal proceedings, as their conduct often shapes public perception of justice.

She further encouraged Justice Bonnie to leave behind a strong and positive legacy if confirmed as Chief Justice. Hon. Awuni expressed her confidence that he would work closely with the Attorney General to deliver justice effectively, noting that “the nation needs heroes—people of integrity who will uphold and strengthen our justice system.”
