Nyinahin Catholic SHS Teacher Arrested After Viral Video Exposes Assault on Female Student

A teacher at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region has been taken into police custody following the widespread circulation of a social media video showing him physically assaulting a female student on school grounds.

The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by Daniel Fenyi, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service (GES), via a Facebook post. Mr. Fenyi stated that the regional education directorate has launched an active investigation into the incident, with a comprehensive report expected to be submitted to headquarters shortly.

The distressing footage triggered immediate public outrage across social media platforms. In the video, the visibly agitated educator is seen repeatedly striking the student before lifting her up and slamming her to the ground, ignoring the pleas of nearby onlookers.

Witnesses at the scene could be heard shouting for the teacher to stop, reminding him of the student’s gender. The teacher allegedly responded by yelling, “Is she aware she is a lady?”

Neither school administrators nor officials from the Ghana Education Service have yet disclosed the specific events or provocations that led up to the violent confrontation.
