Kwadaso MCE Leads Community Cleanup, Urges Support for Field-Based Developmen

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Hon. Eric Assibey, has led a community-wide cleanup exercise, demonstrating his commitment to grassroots development and public health.

The sanitation exercise began at the Kwadaso Overhead and continued to Apatrapa, where he was joined by members of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and community leaders.

Speaking to the media during the exercise, Hon. Assibey emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and development in the municipality. He noted that Kwadaso is a large jurisdiction, and its development cannot be achieved by one person alone.

“The municipality is vast. I cannot be everywhere at once, which is why I’ve encouraged all Assembly Members to alert me about challenges in their various electoral areas,” he said. “Leadership is not about staying in the office always; many of the real issues are out here in the field.”

Hon. Assibey also commended the Assembly Member for Apatrapa New Site, Prince Owusu Agyemang, and his Unit Committee for their initiative in clearing a heavily choked bridge. He warned that such blockages could pose a significant danger during heavy rains, potentially costing human lives.

“The Kwadaso Assembly doesn’t have all the necessary machinery,” he admitted. “But with early alerts from members, we will always find ways to address the situation and prevent disasters.”

Assembly Member Prince Owusu Agyemang expressed excitement and gratitude for the MCE’s active involvement, noting it as a refreshing change.

“I am very excited about what the new MCE is doing. He’s on the ground with us, and it gives us hope. For example, there’s a road in my area that hasn’t seen a single vehicle for over 30 years. But thanks to Hon. Assibey’s support and contributions from residents, we can now drive safely on that road,” he explained.

He added that the burden of monitoring a dangerous bridge had finally been lifted from his shoulders.

“Each time it rained, I had to rush to check if the bridge had caused any harm to my people. Today, I feel relieved.”

The cleanup exercise has been lauded by residents as a demonstration of proactive leadership, and many have called for similar initiatives to be replicated across the municipality. The MCE pledged to continue working with Assembly Members, traditional leaders, and residents to ensure Kwadaso remains safe, clean, and progressive.
