In a recent interview, Frank Owusu, the former President of the University of Ghana Tescon, emphasized the significant impact of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy in Ghana. Owusu staunchly asserted that anyone in Ghana who fails to recognize the positive outcomes of the Free SHS initiative should question their allegiance to the country. He highlighted his personal experience, revealing that out of 53 classmates who completed school together, only three, including himself, were able to proceed to SHS due to financial constraints.

Expressing his support for the current government, Owusu criticized former President Mahama’s policies, claiming they do not demonstrate sound intentions for the nation. He especially commended Vice President Dr. Bawumiah for his contributions to national development, particularly through digitalization efforts. Owusu praised the convenience brought about by digital initiatives, such as online access to the National Health Insurance system and seamless banking transactions, which have improved overall efficiency and convenience.

Owusu credited Dr. Bawumiah for implementing transformative measures, citing the drastic increase in fire stations across the country and the distribution of Dialysis, Reagent, Infusion, and Power (DRIP) machines to every constituency. He commended the Vice President for his proactive approach to governance, enhancing crucial services and infrastructure nationwide.

In his critique of the opposition, Owusu highlighted the persistent issue of power outages, commonly referred to as ‘dumsor,’ during Mahama’s administration. He argued that this singular issue overshadows Mahama’s legacy, emphasizing the need for a leader like Dr. Bawumiah, who prioritizes progress and tangible development for the country.

As Ghana gears up for the upcoming elections, Owusu urged citizens to consider the advancements facilitated by the current administration and vote for continuity. He underscored the importance of sustaining the momentum of positive change, advocating for Dr. Bawumiah to lead the nation towards further growth and prosperity.
