Bosome Freho MP Makes First-Ever Donation of 1,500 Trunks, Chop Boxes and Books to BECE Candidates
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosome Freho Constituency, Hon. Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, has made history by becoming the first legislator in the constituency to provide a large-scale educational support package to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates. He has donated 1,500 trunks, chop boxes, exercise books and note books to all candidates who successfully completed the 2024/2025 BECE and are preparing to enter senior high schools.
The presentation, held at Dunkura, brought together parents, guardians, traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and education stakeholders, all of whom described the gesture as an unprecedented intervention in the constituency. Each of the 1,500 beneficiaries received a trunk, a chop box, along with exercise books and note books, easing the financial stress on families as they transition their children into senior high schools.
This initiative is the first of its kind in the history of Bosome Freho, a fact that has won the MP admiration from both parents and community leaders. Many believe it will not only ease the financial burden on households but also inspire students to value education and aim higher in their academic pursuits.
Speaking to the media during the presentation, Hon. Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh explained that the gesture was in fulfillment of a pledge he made to his constituents while seeking their mandate. He emphasized that education remains his topmost priority as it is the key to unlocking the constituency’s development. “This is a promise I made to my people when I sought their mandate to serve as their Member of Parliament. Today, I am honoring that promise because I believe education is the greatest legacy we can give to our children. No one can ever take it away from them,” he said.
Hon Asafo-Adjei further urged parents and guardians to continue prioritizing their wards’ education and making the necessary sacrifices to secure their future. He also admonished the students to remain disciplined, focused and determined in order to achieve excellence. “It is my expectation that in the years ahead, Bosome Freho will produce more professionals – doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, and teachers. We cannot always have our young people ending up at mining sites and farms. Though farming and mining are good ventures, I want to see more of our children climb higher on the academic ladder to make our constituency proud,” Hon. Asafo-Adjei Ayeh stressed.
Parents who received the items on behalf of their children expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MP for his timely intervention. They described the donation as a huge relief at a time when the cost of trunks, chop boxes and school supplies continues to rise. “This gesture has really reduced our burden. Many of us were worried about how to provide these essential items for our children, but today, Hon. Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh has taken that worry away. We are very grateful for his thoughtfulness,” one parent said.
Community leaders and education stakeholders also lauded the MP for his foresight and commitment to the youth. They noted that such interventions would not only motivate students but also help improve academic performance across the constituency.
