Africa Must Guard Cultural Identity and Legislative Independence, Urges Parliament Speaker

Ghana – The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has issued a strong call for African nations to fiercely protect their cultural identity and legislative autonomy. Speaking at the 4th African Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values in Ghana, the Speaker emphasized that just as Africa refrains from interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, it deserves reciprocal respect.

“African lawmakers must remain committed to the mandate of their people and protect the continent’s unique values, traditions, and heritage,” Rt. Hon. Bagbin stated in his keynote address. The conference, held under the theme “Consolidating Parliamentary Consensus: Advancing the African Charter on Family Values and Sovereignty,” saw representatives from twenty African countries gather to discuss these critical issues.
