BoG Dismisses Sale of New Headquarters as “Untrue”

Accra, June 3, 2026 – The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has firmly rejected online reports suggesting it is considering the sale of its newly constructed headquarters in Ridge, Accra.

In a statement shared with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the central bank described the claims-initially published by a private radio station on June 1, 2026-as false and damaging.

“The Bank of Ghana categorically states that this report is untrue,” the statement read. “The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters.”

According to BoG, the $260 million facility was commissioned to support its operations and improve efficiency in delivering its statutory mandate, adding that the building remains a critical institutional asset.

The central bank urged the public and media to disregard the publication, warning that unverified reports of this nature could undermine confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary market uncertainty.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, BoG advised the media to seek clarification through its verified channels-including its website (bog.gov.gh), official social media platforms, press releases from the Communications Department, and signed statements from the Bank’s Secretary-before publishing information related to its operations.
