Barniekrom Breaks Ground for CHPS Staff Accommodation to Improve Patient Care

The Barniekrom community has officially cut sod for the construction of staff accommodation at the Barniekrom CHPS compound, a major step toward improving healthcare delivery in the area.

In an interview with the District Health Director for Ahafo Ano South West, Dr. Jerry Adu Amankwah, expressed his excitement about the project. He noted that the initiative is timely and necessary, given the challenges faced by both patients and health workers due to the lack of proper facilities.

Dr. Amankwah revealed that many patients often feel uncomfortable and reluctant to share their health concerns because of inadequate space at the facility. He explained that male and female patients are sometimes admitted in the same area, which affects privacy and dignity. In some cases, patients even struggle to find a place to sleep when admitted.

He emphasized that the new accommodation will help improve conditions at the CHPS compound, ensuring that patients are properly attended to in a more organized and respectful environment. According to him, the project will also support better separation of male and female patients, ultimately enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the community.

Hon. Kingsley Asare, Assembly Member for the Barniekrom Electoral Area, explained the motivation behind the construction of accommodation for nurses in the community.

He noted that the government cannot address every development need at once, which informed his decision to initiate the project at the local level.

He further appealed to the government for support to help complete and sustain the initiative.
