URGENT CALL FOR ACTION TO STOP TARGETED KILLINGS IN BINDURI DISTRICT
The Mamprugu Youth Association has raised an urgent alarm over escalating violence in the Binduri District, where over 12 lives have been lost in targeted attacks within just one month (February to March).
In a strongly worded statement, the group expressed deep concern over the failure of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Interior Ministry to take decisive action to halt the killings, which have predominantly affected Mamprusis, security personnel, and other ethnic groups.
“The situation is dire, and we can no longer remain silent while innocent lives are being lost daily,” the association stated. “REGSEC must act immediately to deploy additional security forces, increase patrols, and implement measures to protect vulnerable communities.”
The recent surge in violence has sparked fear among residents, with many calling for swift government intervention to prevent further bloodshed. Critics accuse security agencies of slow response times, allowing perpetrators to operate with impunity.
