THREE UDS FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS REMANDED OVER ALLEGED ARMED ROBBERY

Three Level 400 students of the University for Development Studies have been remanded into police custody over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery case.

The suspects, who are reported to be from the Nyankpala and Dungu campuses of the university, were arraigned before a court and subsequently remanded. They are expected to reappear on a date yet to be confirmed.

Addressing the media in Tamale, the Northern Regional Police Commander, Wisdom Lavoe, disclosed that one of the suspects was arrested while allegedly attempting to travel to the North East Region.

He explained that the arrest forms part of a broader effort by the Ghana Police Service to clamp down on criminal activities in the region, particularly armed robbery incidents.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case, assuring the public of their commitment to maintaining safety and ensuring that those found culpable are brought to justice.

The development has sparked concern within the university community as the suspects remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
