NDC Urges Supporters to Stay Calm and Focused Amid Vote Collation

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on its supporters to exercise restraint and wait for the official announcement of the 2024 general election results before celebrating.

Speaking at a press briefing, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC Communications Director, emphasized the importance of vigilance during the collation process and urged party members to prioritize safeguarding votes.

“On behalf of our leader, John Dramani Mahama, and the incoming president of Ghana, we urge you to head to the collation centers in your constituencies. If you were at the polling station earlier, you should already be following the vote boxes and election materials to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) collation center,” he stated.

Gyamfi further underscored that securing votes at this critical stage is the responsibility of every party member, stating, “Once ballots are counted and announced at the polling station, our collective duty is to ensure those results are protected. Celebration should only come after the EC officially declares results at the constituency collation centers.”

The NDC also advised party agents at collation centers to remain focused, monitor the process, and report any irregularities promptly to ensure election transparency.

With preliminary results trickling in from polling stations nationwide, anticipation is mounting, but the NDC’s leadership insists that celebrations are premature until the official results are confirmed.

“You only celebrate when the EC at the collation center announces the results,” Gyamfi reiterated.
