GNFS Honours Two Firefighters for Bravery During Volta Flood Rescue
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has honoured two firefighters for their bravery and dedication during a flood rescue operation in the Sogakope enclaves of the Volta Region in July 2026.
The two officers, LFM Sene Famous of the Sogakope Fire Station and FM Yao Addo Kumi of the Adidome Fire Station, were recognised for their efforts in rescuing and assisting residents affected by the floods.
According to a statement issued by the GNFS Public Relations Officer for the Volta Region, the officers were presented with assorted items as a token of appreciation for their commitment to protecting lives and property during the emergency.
The GNFS said the recognition was aimed at acknowledging the courage and dedication of firefighters who often work in difficult and dangerous conditions while responding to emergencies and protecting communities.
The Service noted that the actions of the two officers during the flood highlighted the important role firefighters play in disaster response and safeguarding lives and communities.
The GNFS further said the gesture was meant to encourage its personnel to continue demonstrating professionalism, courage and commitment in the discharge of their duties.
