Atwima Mponua DCE Commissions Bedabour CHPS Compound to Improve Healthcare Delivery
Healthcare access in Atwima Mponua District has received a major boost following the official commissioning of an ultra-modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compound at Bedabour in the Atwima Mponua District.
The newly inaugurated facility is designed to bridge the healthcare gap for vulnerable populations, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children who previously had to travel long distances to access medical care.
The fully furnished health center is equipped with modern medical infrastructure to deliver comprehensive primary care, including,
Clinical Spaces, Male and female wards, consulting rooms, and a dedicated records department.Maternal & Child Health: Antenatal Care (ANC) unit, a fully equipped labour ward, and delivery beds with accessories. A comfortable waiting room, patient beds, modern washrooms, and office furniture.
The project, which commenced in 2016, remained incomplete for several years. However, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to complete all abandoned public projects, the facility is now complete and fully operational.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the forecourt of Bedabour Health Center, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, noted that the facility will directly address critical health challenges facing the community, especially maternal and child health.
Hon. Ibrahim Issahak mentioned that the Assembly had equipped the CHPS Compound with essential medical equipment, enabling health personnel to begin providing services immediately.
He emphasized that the project aligns with the national vision to expand access to primary healthcare through strategic infrastructure development.
DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure, promoting education, and advancing sustainable development across the Atwima Mponua District.
Hon.Ibrahim urged residents to make full use of the facility by attending clinics, seeking early care, and embracing preventive health practices, ensuring that the center becomes a hub of healing, wellness, and community strength.
He pleaded with residents and chiefs of Bedabour to be peaceful and accommodating toward the health personnel posted to the community. He also pledged to help resolve their network, electricity, and road issues.
Authorities have confirmed that qualified health personnel have already been deployed to the facility.
The Chief of Bedabour, Nana Akwasi Yeboah, thanked the DCE and Hon. Stephen Yeboah, the former DCE and current Deputy Narcotics Control Director, while reiterating the appeal to Hon. Ibrahim Issahak for assistance with their network challenges.
Residents were likewise encouraged to take ownership of the facility, embrace early healthcare-seeking behaviors, and utilize preventive health services to foster long-term community wellness.
