Ex-NDC Chairman Urges Massive Support for Amansie West DCE Nominee, Calls for District Restructuring and Road Rehabilitation

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for Amansie West, Mr. Akwasi Manu, has passionately appealed for assembly members’ overwhelming endorsement of the President’s nominee for District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Manu Prince Morris, while highlighting critical infrastructure challenges facing the constituency.

Road Network: A Pressing Concern
Mr. Manu identified the constituency’s deteriorating road network as its most urgent challenge, calling for immediate government intervention. “Our roads are in terrible condition – tattered, dusty and causing daily stress for residents,” he stated. “The poor road conditions don’t just make transportation difficult; the constant dust pollution is becoming a serious health hazard for our people.”

Market Solution Awaits Action

The former chairman made a direct appeal to Manso Abore authorities: “The completed market square built by Asanko Mines must be opened without further delay. This is the solution we need to decongest our town center and restore smooth business operations.” He emphasized that redirecting all trading activities to the purpose-built facility would immediately ease Abore township’s chronic traffic gridlock while creating better working conditions for traders.

Call for District Collaboration and Possible Split
The former party chairman, who served from 2003 to 2014, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between Amansie West and Amansie South districts. He particularly highlighted the strain on educational infrastructure, noting: “The Free SHS policy has increased enrollment pressure on our Senior High Schools. Both districts must work together to secure more facilities.”

Mr. Manu further proposed the creation of a new district: “Considering the vast size and workload, government should consider establishing Amansie North to improve administrative efficiency and service delivery.”

Advice for Inclusive Governance
Addressing the incoming DCE, Mr. Manu stressed the importance of inclusive leadership: “The nominee must adopt a hands-on approach – engaging all stakeholders through personal meetings, phone calls, and other direct interactions, regardless of political affiliation.”

Warning to Government Appointees
The former chairman issued a stern message to government officials: “Public service demands absolute commitment. Non-performing appointees should be relieved of their duties as a deterrent to others. We cannot tolerate complacency in leadership.”

As assembly members prepare to vote on the DCE nominee, residents remain hopeful for a leader who will tackle the constituency’s infrastructure challenges while fostering unity and developments.
