Atwima Mponua MP Tours BECE Centers; Urges Students to Consider TVET

As the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) continues, the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Seth Osei-Akoto, toured several examination centers to motivate and encourage candidates.
The nationwide exercise began on Monday, May 4, with English Language and Religious and Moral Education (RME). On Tuesday, candidates sat for Social Studies and Creative Arts. The examination is expected to conclude on Friday, May 8.
The MP and his entourage visited centers including Kentenkyere, Agogoso, Mpasatia, and Adobara, out of the 13 designated centers in the district.
Addressing the students, Hon. Osei-Akoto urged them to remain focused, calm, and confident. He advised them to rely strictly on what they had been taught and to avoid any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing that “true success is born of hard work and discipline.”
“This is your moment to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and discipline you have acquired over the years. Trust in your preparation, and you will make the Atwima Mponua District proud,” he stated.
The MP expressed concern regarding the current state of education in the district, noting that there is significant room for improvement. To address these challenges, he pledged his continued support through the provision of mathematical sets, payment of school fees, and the offering of scholarships.
To further boost morale, Hon. Osei-Akoto pledged to provide boarding school materials and full fee sponsorship for brilliant but needy students. He also emphasized that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) would receive equal support, whether in formal education, vocational training, or apprenticeships.
Regarding the upcoming school selection process, the MP strongly advised candidates to consider Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
He noted that TVET offers practical pathways to employment and is a key area of interest for national development.
He added that his office is working assiduously with partners to expand school enrollment options, ensuring that the Atwima Mponua District produces more elite professionals and skilled workers.
A total of 3,068 candidates are participating in this year’s examination across 13 centers in the district. The cohort consists of,1,554 Male candidates,1,514 Female candidates
