Amenfi Central MP Urges Youth to Harness Local Opportunities

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, attended the VI Exposure Initiative held at the British Council in Accra.

Speaking at the program, she emphasized that if the youth learn to appreciate and make use of the little resources available to them, they will not need to look far for opportunities. She encouraged young people to identify what is around them and take advantage of it.

She explained that in her community, the main economic activities are farming and mining. For this reason, she decided to focus her efforts on these two sectors. In Amenfi Central, she has mobilized a group of women and introduced them to vegetable farming. Through this initiative, she plans to pay them monthly, since their previous methods of farming were not yielding the best results.

Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe also reflected on her personal background, recalling how her father was a palm wine tapper, her mother a farmer, and she herself was involved in mining. She mentioned how she used to follow her parents everywhere in their work. Despite those humble beginnings, through hard work and determination, she has been able to support her family, even buying cars for her mother, father, and siblings.
