BLACK STARS DRAWN AGAINST COTE D’IVOIRE, GAMBIA AND SOMALIA IN 2027 AFCON QUALIFIERS

The Black Stars have been placed in Group C for the qualifiers of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire national football team, Gambia national football team, and Somalia national football team in the qualification series for the continental competition, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The four-time African champions will be aiming for a stronger qualifying campaign after missing out on the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco following a disappointing run in which they failed to win a single qualifying match.

Before failing to qualify for the last edition, Ghana had also suffered consecutive group-stage exits in the previous two AFCON tournaments, increasing pressure on the team to return to form.

According to the schedule, the opening two matchdays of the qualifiers will take place during the FIFA international window from September 21 to October 6, 2026.

Matchdays three and four are expected to be played between November 9 and November 17, 2026, while the final two rounds of qualifiers are scheduled for March 22 to March 30, 2027.

The complete list of teams that will participate in the 2027 AFCON tournament is expected to be confirmed after the final round of matches.
