Traditional Leaders, NPP MP Pledge Support as New DCE Acknowledges Challenges Ahead

Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, popularly known as Pedro, has been elected as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Odotobri Amansie Central, securing 33 out of 40 votes in an election held at the Jacobu Community Center on Friday.

In his acceptance speech, Pedro acknowledged that while he won the position with 83% of the votes, the absence of unanimous support signals underlying issues that need resolution. “Although I’ve secured the DCE role, the fact that it’s not 100% means there are concerns we must address collectively,” he stated. “The development of our constituency is a shared goal, and I will work tirelessly to bridge any gaps for us to move forward together.”

The newly elected DCE emphasized that progress cannot be achieved alone and called for unity among assembly members, traditional leaders, and residents. He expressed gratitude to former President John Mahama for nominating him and to the voters for their trust, pledging to prioritize developmental projects in the district, which he described as lagging behind.

Cross-Party Collaboration Pledged
In a show of bipartisan cooperation, Hon. Anthony Mmieh, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Amansie Central, assured Pedro of his support. “We will work hand in hand for Odotobri’s progress, not against each other,” Mmieh declared, signaling a rare moment of political unity.

Traditional Leaders Urge Immediate Action
Nana Bekwai Manhene, a prominent traditional leader, challenged the new DCE to act swiftly on the district’s deteriorating infrastructure. “The roads, including Jacobu’s main stretch, are in terrible condition. Pedro must hit the ground running,” he said. The chief also offered his counsel, stating, “My doors are always open for guidance whenever he needs it.”

The ceremony was witnessed by traditional rulers, religious leaders, party officials, and residents, who now await tangible improvements under Pedro’s leadership. With pressing infrastructural deficits and calls for inclusive governance, the new DCE faces high expectations as he begins his term.
