Manso Agroyesum Chief Urges Government to Complete Abandoned Road Projects, Address Governance Issues

The Chief of Manso Agroyesum, Nana Tabi Agyaben III, has made a strong appeal to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to complete road construction projects initiated by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Speaking at a media engagement at his palace, Nana Tabi Agyaben III emphasized the urgent need to complete the Mem Junction to Manso Agroyesum road, warning that its abandonment would severely impact economic activities and healthcare access for residents. He stressed that government transitions should not disrupt critical infrastructure projects that directly affect the lives of citizens.

The chief expressed frustration over the poor road conditions in Amansie South, stating that despite the district’s contributions to the national economy through mining and other resources, infrastructure remains underdeveloped. He urged the government to prioritize road construction, as deteriorating roads have made transportation difficult for businesses, students, and healthcare workers.

Amansie South District Assembly Staff Accused of Absenteeism

Beyond infrastructure concerns, Nana Tabi Agyaben III criticized the Amansie South District Assembly, accusing its staff of chronic absenteeism, negligence, and lack of commitment to their duties. He claimed that inefficiency within the assembly has led to poor service delivery, affecting the district’s overall development.

He called on the government to take decisive action against unprofessional behavior among public servants, stressing that accountability and dedication are crucial for effective governance at the local level.

Chief Demands Immediate MMDCE Appointment

The Agroyesumhene also urged the government to expedite the appointment of a Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) for Amansie South. He noted that the prolonged vacancy in the MMDCE position has created a leadership vacuum, stalling development initiatives and decision-making at the district level.

“The absence of a substantive MMDCE is affecting governance and slowing down progress in the district. The government must act swiftly to appoint a capable leader to oversee the assembly’s operations and drive development,” he stated.

Call for Urgent Government Action

Nana Tabi Agyaben III’s concerns reflect growing frustration among Amansie South residents over stalled development and ineffective governance. He urged President Mahama, the Ministry of Local Government, and other relevant authorities to address these issues immediately.

“The people of Amansie South deserve better. We need our roads completed, we need dedicated assembly staff, and we need strong leadership at the district level. The government must listen to our concerns and act accordingly,” he concluded.
