Obuasi SHTS: Students Alleging Sexual Abuse Against Headmaster Increase to 16
Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has disclosed that the number of female students alleging sexual abuse by the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai, has increased from 14 to 16 following his investigation.
Speaking on Joy FM about his latest documentary, Manasseh said the initial information available to him involved five students. However, the number rose to 14 when he visited the school to investigate the allegations.
He explained that two more female students later came forward with accounts of similar alleged encounters with the headmaster, bringing the total number of students to 16.
According to the journalist, the additional allegations emerged as he continued gathering information and speaking with students during the investigation.
“Those who spoke, I have their names on record. When I went there, the number was 14; I am told two more names were added, so we have 16,” he said.
Manasseh’s documentary, titled Inside the Dreaded Headmaster’s Bungalow, focuses on the allegations of sexual abuse levelled against the headmaster of the school.
The investigative journalist also raised concerns about what he described as the widespread knowledge of the allegations within the Obuasi community, including among members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), despite the apparent reluctance of some people to discuss the matter publicly.
The allegations against the headmaster remain subject to investigation, and the facts of the case are yet to be fully established.
