348 Students of KNUST Awarded Scholarships

Brilliant but needy students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been awarded by the Hulede Foundation. The beneficiaries, on the 8th of June, met with the management of the Foundation at the Allotey Auditiorium.

The Senior Assistant Registrar at the Directorate of Students Affairs, Mrs. Theodora Oduro, who addressed the congregation, encouraged that they study hard in order to become useful, as well as responsible citizens.

Mrs. Oduro commended the Foundation on this philanthropic and benevolent gesture that the Foundation has been doing since the year 2021. KNUST now has a number of 712 brilliant but genuinely underprivileged students who have benefited from this, as of 2024.

This scholarship foundation was instituted in the year, 2021.

The awardees are required to engage in a 40-hour volunteering community service annually. As a form of motivation, the Foundation additionally presented twenty new branded laptops to those scholarship-awardees who perfomed exceptionally in community service, this year.

The Hulede Foundation, was set up in Honour of the deceased Patrick Hulede – Founder and First Manager of University Printing Press(UPK), father to his two sons, Patrick and John Hulede. His sons honoured him with this Foundation. Patrick Hulede, the Co-Founder and Board Member of the Foundation said, “The foundation’s mission is to create opportunities for the less privileged in society to better their lives”.

This same Hulede Scholarship Foundation has been of benefit to students in the lower education institutions of the country, in Kumasi – numerous basic schools, and a number of senior high schools, also.
