Residents of Oyoko- Bosomtwe District Appeal for Support to Complete Dilapidated School Building

Residents of Oyoko community in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region are making a passionate appeal to NGOs, philanthropists, natives both home and abroad, and well-meaning Ghanaians to come to their aid in completing the long-abandoned school project in the town.

The community has taken it upon themselves to fund and revive the dilapidated Oyoko school building after repeated unsuccessful proposals to the district assembly yielded no positive response.

Community members, including some teachers, non-residents, and natives of Oyoko, have contributed from their own pockets to bring the structure back to life.

However, their financial strength has now been exhausted, prompting this public call for support.

Leading member of the project, Kwame Boakye, explained the situation during a recent interaction: “We wrote several proposals to the assembly, but nothing positive came out of it. That is why we decided to take it upon ourselves to fund the project. Any tragedy or harm that befalls our children will come back to us.

The school belongs to us, so we cannot sit idle and allow unfortunate things to happen to our children.”
Mr. Boakye appealed for any small contributions that individuals can afford, starting from GH¢10 upwards, to be sent via mobile money to 0245800287.

He noted that funds can be used to purchase essential building materials such as roofing sheets, cement, nails, wood, paint, or any other items needed to complete the school or if you can also give them some of the materials.

The residents emphasised that the school is critical for the education of their children and urged generous support from all sources to help bring the project to completion.
