MP’s Diary: Hon. Zuwera Hosts Salaga SHS Students at Parliament During National Public Speaking Competition

On Friday, 12th December 2025, the Member of Parliament for the Salaga-South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Mohammed Ibrahimah, received a delegation of students from Salaga Senior High School in Accra. The students were led by Madam Milatu Tahiru, a staff member of the school.

The visit formed part of the students’ participation in the 2025 National Public Speaking Competition, organized under the auspices of the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament and held at the Parliament House of Ghana. The Salaga Senior High School students had earlier emerged as winners at the Savannah Regional Competition, earning the right to represent the region at the national level.

The 2025 competition was held under the theme “Sexual and Reproductive Health of the Adolescent Child,” which guided the various presentations delivered by contestants. The event brought together students from six senior high schools across the country, namely Accra Academy, Osei-Tutu Senior High School, Swedru Senior High School, Sunyani Senior High School, Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, and Awaso STEM Senior High School.

At the end of the competition, Sunyani Senior High School emerged as the overall winners, while Salaga Senior High School was adjudged the Most Promising School.

Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah congratulated the students of Salaga Senior High School for their outstanding performance at the regional level and for successfully qualifying for the national finals. She further expressed her admiration for their confident and impressive participation during the final competition held in Parliament.

These plans include the provision and enhancement of ICT facilities, science laboratories, classroom blocks, and accommodation at both Salaga Senior High School and T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, as part of her broader efforts to strengthen teaching and learning in the Salaga-South Constituency.
