Manso Adubia Launches Maiden Homecoming with Bold Community-Led Development Drive

Manso Adubia, a vibrant town in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, has made history with the successful launch of its maiden Homecoming celebration, under the theme: “Community’s Reunion, Reconciliation, Development and Transformation.”

The grand durbar, which took place on April 20, 2025, at the United School premises, attracted a host of dignitaries, traditional leaders, political figures, and community stakeholders. Among the prominent attendees were Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo (MP for Manso Adubia), Nana Adwoa Osaah, Hon. Dr. Hubert Asiedu Bimpeh, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, and Chairman Abu, a former constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The visionary behind this initiative, Hon. Peter Awere, who also serves as the Assemblyman for Manso Adubia, delivered a heartfelt address outlining the core motivation behind the event. According to him, the homecoming is not just a celebration, but a bold community-driven step towards addressing pressing local challenges-beginning with the construction of teachers’ quarters.

“Everyone is depending on the government these days, but sometimes waiting can take too long, especially when urgent development needs are left unattended,” Hon. Awere stated. “That’s why the traditional leaders (Nananom), my executive team, and I have decided to take charge. We are raising funds to build comfortable living quarters for our teachers.”

He emphasized the high cost of rent in Manso Adubia and the relatively low salaries of teachers in Ghana, noting that this disparity makes it difficult to attract and retain educators in the area. “Among the many needs of our community, we have chosen to prioritize this one because it directly affects the quality of education and the future of our children,” he added.

Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, the Member of Parliament for the constituency, applauded the initiative, calling it a timely and commendable step. “Manso Adubia is the district capital of Amansie South. If Adubia is sick, then the entire district is in danger,” he remarked. He pledged his full support to the project and also expressed his readiness to collaborate with any District Chief Executive (DCE) appointed by the current or future government.

Hon. Benjamin Marfo echoed similar sentiments, praising Hon. Peter Awere for translating the President of Ghana’s vision of “Resetting Ghana” into local action. “What we see here is a clear example of community leadership. If every community waited for government to build even a toilet facility, we wouldn’t move forward. But here, Adubia has taken the lead,” he said passionately.

Chairman Abu, former NPP Chairman for the constituency, also commended the initiative and encouraged all leaders involved to remain focused on national development rather than partisan politics. “If every community embraces such initiatives with Ghana’s interest at heart, the nation will develop in the twinkle of an eye,” he stated.

The maiden Manso Adubia Homecoming did more than reconnect natives it laid the groundwork for sustainable, grassroots-driven development. The spirit of unity and determination demonstrated by the people and their leaders signals a promising future for the town and serves as a model for other communities across the country.

As the celebration continues, so too does the drive to raise funds and rally support for the teachers’ quarters project-proof that when communities take the lead, transformation becomes not just a dream, but a tangible reality.
