INTERIOR MINISTRY CLARIFIES 20% RENT ALLOWANCE TAX ON SECURITY PERSONNEL
The Ministry of the Interior has dismissed reports suggesting it deducted a 20 percent tax from the rent allowance of security services personnel.
In a statement issued by its Public Affairs and Communications Unit, the Ministry explained that it does not have the authority to impose or deduct taxes from such allowances.
According to the statement, the 20 percent deduction was carried out at source by the Ministry of Finance in accordance with existing tax laws.
The Ministry further assured security personnel that the government remains committed to their welfare and will not take actions that undermine their interests.
It also urged all affected personnel to remain calm while relevant authorities continue to address the matter.
