Amansie South Assembly Unites Behind Benjamin Marfo in Landslide DCE Election

Benjamin Marfo Elected Amansie South DCE with Unanimous 100% Vote

The Amansie South District Assembly members have unanimously elected Hon. Benjamin Marfo as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) in a decisive vote held yesterday, May 19, 2025, at the Amansie South District Assembly Hall. The event was graced by traditional leaders, security personnel’s, some NDC party executives and members, as well as honorable assembly members, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Out of the 38 total votes cast, Hon. Marfo secured an overwhelming 37 “Yes” votes, with only one vote rejected, granting him a resounding 100% endorsement. In his acceptance speech, the newly elected DCE expressed profound gratitude to all present, particularly commending the assembly members for their unwavering trust in his leadership.

Hon. Marfo emphasized that his election represents a call to service rather than a pursuit of power. “I am fully committed to upholding the values of transparency, accountability, and responsibility in steering the affairs of the district,” he declared. He further pledged to listen attentively to the concerns of all residents and work tirelessly to ensure the prosperity of Amansie South, assuring that his doors remain open to everyone, regardless of political affiliation.

In a call for unity, he urged his former contenders to join forces with him, leveraging their expertise and knowledge for the collective development of the district. “I recognize that the role of District Chief Executive is not an easy one, but I am dedicated to fostering collaboration with the assembly, traditional leaders, and all stakeholders to drive progress and improve the quality of life in our communities,” he stated.

The event was also attended by the NPP Constituency Chairman for Amansie South, Chairman Kofi Acheampong, who represented the Member of Parliament, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo. In an interview, Chairman Acheampong highlighted the critical issue of road infrastructure as the district’s biggest challenge. He specifically referenced the Manso Mim Junction to Agroyesum road project, where drainage and filling works have been completed, leaving only the tiling pending.

Chairman Acheampong appealed to the new DCE to prioritize the completion of the road, stressing that abandoning it would be a disservice to the people. “The DCE must find ways to ensure the road is tiled, as we are almost at the finish line,” he urged. He also called for the continuation of all ongoing projects initiated by the previous administration, noting that the massive endorsement of Hon. Marfo by the assembly members signals a strong demand for sustained development in Amansie South.

With this historic election, the people of Amansie South look forward to a new era of inclusive leadership and accelerated progress under Hon. Benjamin Marfo’s stewardship.
