Kumawu Unveils Papa Nantwie Festival to Celebrate Ancestral Heritage
The Kumawu Traditional Area has officially launched the Papa Nantwie Festival as a platform to celebrate the courage and sacrifices of its ancestors, reconnect the youth with their cultural roots, and promote unity and pride among the people.
The festival is designed to strengthen ties among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora, while fostering peace, development, and a deeper appreciation of Kumawu’s cultural identity. Traditional authorities explained that the celebration will serve as a reminder of the community’s rich history and values.
At the launch, the leadership of the traditional area underscored the importance of preserving history, warning that societies that neglect their past risk losing their sense of direction. The paramount chief encouraged the youth to embrace their heritage and play active roles in the growth and development of Kumawu, describing the festival as a link between past achievements and future progress.
The initiative has received strong backing from traditional leaders, elders, youth groups, and residents, who were all called upon to support a peaceful and dignified celebration. The event ended with a renewed call for unity, bravery, and the protection of Kumawu’s proud cultural legacy for generations to come.
