MCE Commissions Fumesua STEM School Block in Ejisu Municipality
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Jerryne Asante, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind President John Mahama’s national development agenda, emphasising that non-partisan cooperation is essential for executing critical infrastructure projects.
Speaking to Atinka News Reporter Obofo Michael, at the commissioning of a 6-unit classroom block with administrative offices at Fumesua M/A Basic School, Mrs Asante urged residents, irrespective of political affiliation, to support ongoing development efforts across the municipality.
”If the nation progresses, we all progress,” she said, adding,”I appeal to all citizens to embrace the government with goodwill so we can execute the major projects planned for this municipality. Let no one say, ‘I am not on the side of the government, so I do not want its efforts to succeed.’”
The newly commissioned classroom block, designed to expand Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in the region, was originally started by the previous administration in 2020 but was left uncompleted.
According to the MCE, the current administration prioritised the facility as part of a directive from President Mahama to identify and complete abandoned “legacy projects” nationwide.
Resuming construction in 2025, she noted that the project was completed in under six months, fulfilling a promise made to traditional authorities.
”The previous government started it in 2020, but couldn’t complete it,” Mrs Asante stated, highlighting,”We promised the community and Nananom that we would finish it within six months, and by the grace of God, we completed it in less time.”
Outlining broader infrastructure progress in Ejisu, Mrs Asante revealed that the assembly is currently constructing 48 school-related projects, with three legacy educational facilities fully completed to date.
Beyond educational infrastructure, the Assembly has completed two healthcare facilities, including housing quarters for doctors and nurses, and constructed 35 mechanised boreholes to improve water access across the district.
Mrs Asante reaffirmed that sustainable human and physical development requires collective effort and unity.
Representing the Chief of Fumesua, Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu commended the MCE for delivering on her commitment to the chiefs and residents by completing the legacy project on schedule.
