TVET Education is Now Ghana’s Best Option to Curb Unemployment– Ashanti Regional TVET Director.

The Ashanti Regional TVET Director, Mr. Richard Addo Gyamfi, has emphasised that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become the best option for students and Ghana as a whole in tackling unemployment.

He stated that TVET education, which was previously considered a choice for less academically inclined students, has now gained massive interest, with even graduates from other educational backgrounds returning to pursue vocational training.

Speaking at the 20th Graduation Ceremony of Suame Technical Institute, where 260 students graduated under the theme “The Role of Ghana TVET Service in the Global Migration”, Mr. Gyamfi attributed the rising enrollment rate to intensive sensitisation efforts.

“The enrollment rate has risen because of the sensitisation education, and people now believe that it’s the way to go as a country.

“This is where jobs can be created, entrepreneurs can be identified, and employment opportunities can be generated. I encourage people to continue embracing TVET to help curb unemployment in Ghana,” he stated.

The Principal of the school, Mr. Ansoman Nurudeen, expressed concern about the limited space available to admit students.

“The interest of the people is rising, and they are trooping in for admission, but we have a very small space. We are now seeking a new location for an annex so that we can admit more students,” he said.

He further revealed that despite setting a target of enrolling 250 students for the 2024/25 academic year, they ended up with 500 due to high demand.
