The “Know Your Country” Tourism Campaign has been initiated at Amedzofe, a township situated in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, by ROIS Travels Limited, a Ghanaian travel and tour agency based in Accra. To kick off the campaign, the agency organized a one-day tour for a group of tourists from Accra, the capital of Ghana. They visited Amedzofe and experienced the Gemi Mountain, the Otey Waterfalls and the newly introduced Canopy Walkway all located within Amedzofe. The campaign launch coincided with the visit of students from Ahamansu Senior High School in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region and Pentecost University College at Sowutuom in Accra.

Mount Gemi, offers a healthy form of physical exercise, in addition to serving as a historic location. Hence, the Mount is an ideal destination for tourists seeking to learn more about Ghana’s cultural and natural heritage. The Assembly Member (AM) for the Amedzofe Electoral Area, Hon. Robert Ameh, extended a warm welcome to the ROIS Travels Limited team and the other visitors to the tourist sites and guided them through the Mountain, the Otey Waterfalls, the Walkway with assistance from some local tour guides. Onggy Hianata Elolo Rois, a three-year-old boy was also among the visitors and tourists.

During the launch of the campaign at the Canopy Walkway and Otey Waterfalls Office grounds, the CEO of ROIS Travels Limited, Mrs. Gifty Etse Rois, highlighted that Ghana is blessed with a rich array of tourist attractions, encompassing historic forts and castles along the coast, as well as the lush rainforests and wildlife sanctuaries in the hinterlands. On top of the mountain stands a metal cross erected by missionaries during the 50th anniversary celebration in 1939, when they brought the message of salvation to the community. At the time, it also served as a prayer ground for Christians and those of religious affiliations. The Gemi Mountain is historically significant as it was the point where Asantes were halted and eventually defeated by the Ewes during their wars between 1867 and 1872. From the summit of the mountain, one can enjoy a serene environment and an elevated view of the surrounding area, including the Volta Lake, Kpando, Tafi Atome, Logba, and even the Agu Mountain in neighboring Togo.

The managers of the attraction claim that this walkway offers an exceptional experience compared to other canopy walkways in the country, allowing visitors to feel like they are being showered in blessings.
