Parliamentary Committee Hails Joana Gyan and Peter Amponsah for Tackling Water Challenges

There was praise all around when the District Chief Executive (DCE), of Amenfi Central, Hon. Peter Amponsah appeared before Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development during the consideration of Annual Audit Statement of MMDA’s.

The big question on the minds of the committee Chairperson Hon Queenstar Sawyer and other members of the committee was the long-standing water challenges facing communities in the Anenfi Central District. In his response, Hon. Amponsah explained that with the support of the area’s Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe ,about 60 boreholes have already been provided to ease the burden on residents.

The revelation drew warm reactions from the Committee. The Chairperson could not hide her admiration, describing Hon. Joana Gyan as “a truly dedicated and hardworking woman.” Other members quickly echoed the praise, applauding both the MP and the DCE for their industriousness and teamwork.

For many families in the district, the boreholes are more than just water sources they represent hope and relief from years of hardship. The gesture is expected to significantly reduce the stress of fetching water, especially for women and children.

Residents say they are optimistic that with such collaboration between their leaders, more development projects will follow.
