Manso Domi-Keniago Chief Demands Urgent Road Repairs, Proposes Teacher Training College to Tackle Staff Shortage

Story by Sibo Yamoah

The Chief of Manso Domi-Keniago in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Obeng Mensah Ababio II, has made a passionate appeal to the government to urgently fix the deplorable roads in the district, describing them as a major barrier to socio-economic progress.

Speaking during a grand durbar held to raise support for a Teachers’ Quarters project, the chief described the current road network as “death traps” and a serious hindrance to safe transportation and daily life. “Our roads are in a terrible state, especially during the rainy season. It’s affecting every aspect of our lives — education, healthcare, farming, and trade. We deserve our fair share of the national cake,” he stressed.

In addition to the road concerns, Nana Obeng Mensah Ababio II called on government to establish a teacher training college in Amansie South to help address the district’s ongoing shortage of qualified teachers. “Education is the foundation of development, but we lack enough teachers. A training college here will empower our youth and help solve the teacher deficit in our schools,” he added.

The event, themed “Building Together, Thriving in Peace,” brought together traditional leaders, government officials, teachers, and community members — all united behind the development of infrastructure that will attract and retain teachers in the area.

Responding to the chief’s concerns, Amansie South District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, pledged his commitment to pushing the community’s needs at the national level. “Development is a shared responsibility. I’ll continue to knock on doors to ensure Manso Domi-Keniago gets the attention it deserves,” he said.

He also encouraged natives, both home and abroad, to support the ongoing development projects. “Let’s unite to build a better future for our children,” he urged.
