Manso Domi Keniago Assemblyman Appeals for Electricity Extension
The Assemblyman for Manso Domi Keniago, Hon. Charles Oduro, has appealed to the government and relevant authorities to come to the aid of the community by extending its electricity supply system.
According to Hon. Oduro, Manso Domi Keniago has grown significantly in recent years, making the existing electricity transformer inadequate to supply power to the entire community.
He explained that the increasing population and development of the town have put pressure on the current transformer, making an extension of the electricity system necessary.
“My community executives, myself and Nananom are working hard to get the government to do something about the situation for us, but to no avail. We are, however, not stopping until we get the extension of our transformer,” he said.
Hon. Oduro disclosed that the inadequate power supply has forced residents to resort to a load-shedding arrangement within the community.
He explained that because the transformer cannot supply electricity to the whole town at the same time, residents have agreed to take turns in accessing power.
“As I am talking now, because Keniago town has become big, the transformer cannot supply the whole town. So, we have talked to our citizens and are doing load shedding,” he stated.
He added that under the arrangement, one part of the community gets electricity while the other part remains without power, and the situation is later reversed.
“If one part of the town gets light today, tomorrow they will sleep in darkness for the other part of the town to also get light. This is not helping the community, nor is it boosting businesses,” Hon. Oduro said.
The Assemblyman therefore urged the authorities responsible for electricity extension projects to urgently consider Manso Domi Keniago and address the community’s power challenges.
He said the community is currently going through a critical period as the inadequate electricity supply continues to affect residents and businesses.
