MADINA MP ADOPTS 20 ORPHANS. PROMISE TO SPONSOR THEIR EDUCATION.

The Member of Parliament for Madina on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), doubling as a human rights lawyer, Francis X’avier Kojo Sosu in partnership with the NDC Gender and Welfare committee have adopted 20 orphans in his constituency, as part of his 2-day compassion outreach programme.

The programme which took place at all the 15 electoral areas in the constituency, aimed to give hope to the physically challenged, the aged , the vulnerable, widows and orphans.

The Hon. Member and his team gave out items like oil, milo, rice, oaths, toiletries etc to put smiles in the faces of these people.

The adoption of the 20 orphans which was witnessed at the Pantang basic school grounds, saw some representatives from the creative arts industry, local officials, community leaders, party members and executives, and some executives from the NDC national welfare Directorate.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the compassion outreach programme, the Madina MP said “this is a special initiative meant to reach out to the vulnerable persons within my constituency and give hope to them”.

Hon. Sosu explained that, the motive behind the adoption of the 20 orphans is because vulnerable people have always been his topmost priority, since he grew up at the orphanage himself.

He said extending arms to orphans has been part of his emergency relief approach for a long time.

According to the Member of Parliament for Madina, any child who is out of school on an account of inability to afford, or because their parents died should not be encouraged.
” And that is why is important that, as a leader, you look around your community and locate as many of the vulnerable people and provide some assistance for them”. He advised.
“These children are the future leaders of our nation and as a leader, it is my responsibility to ensure they receive the best possible education to unearth their potentials. Lawyer Sosu uttered.

Lawyer Sosu explained that, the children were identified through the unit committee members and the Assembly Member of Pantang electoral area.
” When they informed me about the situation of these children, my team and I took it upon ourselves to adopt and cater for their educational needs since it’s part of our initiative”. He revealed.

Hon. Francis Sosu who has always had education at heart and believes education is the key to success, also gave all the 20 adopted orphans school bags, exercise books, texts books, uniforms and all the logistics they will be needing as their educational journey begins.

The Hon. Member for Madina also donated text books, exercise books, note books and other learning materials to the Pantang basic School to help boost education in the community and the Constituency at large.

Hon. Francis X’ avier Kojo Sosu, then urged philanthropists and all those who have education at heart to help expand this initiative.

In an interview with a committee member who was part of the mobilisation of the 20 orphans, Rebecca Akwetey, she lamented that
” These children have lost their parents. Their guardians and caretakers cannot afford to enroll them in school”.
” They are always seen moving around from one game centre to the other while their colleagues are in school and they are too young to be out of school, and this can become a treat to the community.

Madam Rebecca explained that, due to this they informed the the Mp who inturn offered to help. ” we mobilized the children and that is the end result we see today.”

The guardians, caretakers and the people in the community expressed their profound gratitude towards the gesture of the Madina Mp in giving hope to these children.

They then appealed to others who have the resources to follow suit the Madina MP’s action and support his initiative to make the world better place for the Vulnerable.
