Government Sets Cocoa Producer Price at GH¢2,650 Per Bag for 2026/27 Season
The government has set a new producer price of GH¢2,650 for a 64-kilogramme bag of cocoa for the 2026/2027 cocoa crop season.
The new price was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Randy Abbey, at a press briefing on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
The revised producer price takes immediate effect and represents an increase from the GH¢2,587 paid for a 64kg bag during the 2026 light crop season.
The previous price was equivalent to GH¢41,392 per tonne.
Dr Randy Abbey explained that the new producer price was arrived at following consultations with key stakeholders within the cocoa industry.
The adjustment forms part of reforms being implemented by COCOBOD to improve the financial sustainability of the cocoa sector while ensuring that cocoa farmers receive a meaningful share of the value generated from their produce.
The 2026/2027 cocoa season therefore begins with a revised pricing arrangement as the government seeks to provide support to cocoa farmers and strengthen the financial position of the cocoa sector.
The new pricing structure is expected to guide cocoa purchases throughout the new crop season, which has commenced with the government’s efforts to improve the sustainability of the industry.
