The CEO of the EKK Charity Foundation, Evans Kofi Kwafo, has called on the government to establish a dedicated task force with National Security to oversee the activities of school heads and management across the country. He believes this is necessary to prevent teachers from imposing unauthorized fees and levies on students, particularly those in the Free Senior High School program.
According to Mr Kwafo, some school administrators and teachers are behind the mess in our education system .
He claims that some are withholding teaching and learning materials intended to benefit students.
” I don’t want to blame the government for how our education system has become, the teachers and some school administrators need to be blame for all these mess in our education sector” He said
” They collect unnecessary monies from the students. Even if the government provides the logistics for the schools they will still take money from the pupils. I have made my investigations and soon I will mention all the names of that school authorities” Mr Kwafo lamented.
Mr Kwafo also raised the allegations that, ” when the list of items are give to students to buy, the teachers and administrators include their own items. And this action by the teachers is uncalled for. The government has to assigned the national security to investigate this uncivilized actions by the school authorities”. He said
“The parents are happy with the Free SHS initiative, however they complain about too much monies being looted from them. And I strongly stand that the teachers and school administrators in those Senior High Schools need to be taken on”.
These statements were made when Mr. Kwafo spoke to the media after donating 1,500 exercise books, 50 school bags, and 33 pairs of shoes to students of Abono Primary School in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
He explained that his decision to make this donation was inspired by an encounter with two boys who asked him for school supplies during a visit to the community. Touched by their request, he and his team members bought 100 exercise books for the children present at Lake Bosomtwe.
Since then, he and his team decided to expand their support, reaching more vulnerable children in the community to ensure they stay in school.
Mr. Kwafo also urged parents and students to take good care of the materials and use them effectively to enhance their academic performance.
He stressed the importance of utilizing the donated items wisely to ensure students are well-equipped to succeed in their studies, adding that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty in vulnerable communities.
Mr. Kwafo expressed his commitment to continuing his foundation’s efforts to support education across the country
“stating that no child should be left behind due to lack of resources”.
He called on other organizations and philanthropists to join the cause, emphasizing that “collective action is needed to uplift underprivileged communities and improve education standards nationwide”.
Several pupils who received the educational supplies shared their thoughts with the Media.
“We are touched by the good gestures of E.K.K Charity Foundation for reaching out to us, with these items which will boost our education. We are extremely grateful to him and his team.
The pupils called on other organizations and individuals who have education at heart to follow suit , the good intentions of E. K. K. Charity Foundation.
