The District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre North in the Ashanti Region, Emmanuel Jackson Agumah has officially cut sod for the construction of educational and healthcare facility at Pampatia and Penteng all in the district.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place during a comprehensive tour of various communities where the DCE handed over construction sites to contractors to commence work on the ambitious infrastructure projects, funded by the District Assembly’s Common Fund. The event witnessed significant attendance from key stakeholders, including the chiefs, contractor, assembly members, and district assembly staff.

At Pampatia, contractors will construct a six-unit classroom block complete with furniture, stores, and office facilities. The DCE emphasized the comprehensive nature of the project, stating that the district is not simply building schools only to search for furniture later. The furniture, storage facilities, and office components are integral parts of the construction contract.

A major healthcare milestone was marked with the sod cutting for a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Penteng. The facility will include nurses’ accommodation and will be equipped with all necessary facilities and equipment required for effective healthcare service delivery.

Speaking to the media during the ceremony, the DCE, Hon Emmanuel Jackson Agumah announced that contractors have been given a six-month deadline to complete all projects. “We are hoping that the contractors will work seriously, according to the agreement to complete the work in six months time,” he stated.

To ensure project quality and adherence to specifications, the DCE tasked the chiefs, assembly members and community to closely monitor the progress of all construction work. This oversight mechanism is designed to guarantee that contractors deliver quality workmanship that meets established standards and community needs.

Nana Opoku Ware Katakyie, Otumfour Bremponhene also thanked the DCE for his effort to bring healthcare and educational facilities to their doorstep.

He also advised community members who will be employed to help in the construction to work diligently and abstain from stealing some of the building materials to their home.
