The Ghana Creative Arts Agency has launched campaign dubbed #Playghana# to encourage music producers and DJ’s to prioritise local music.
The campaign is expected to boost the festive atmosphere with Ghanaian music and also pave for a more robust and sustainable future for Ghanaian music on the global stage.
In an interaction with some of the artists, they says that whilst we have sell Traditional wear through our year of return initiatives, and every year tourist troops in in Ghana to come and celebrate the Dirty December here in Ghana.
We should play Ghanaian music in all our day- in and day-out activities, ” We can do it because some of other countries has enforced it and it is working them out there in global market.
Samini added that, in everything we that they do, they should always play Ghana music, and it should starts from Uber, Yango, Bolt, In drivers and all the online taxis. Whenever they are going to pick a tourist or a foreigner from the airport, Ghanaian music should be playing inside the car to welcome them.
Mohammed Ismail Sheriff, known in the music industry as Black Sheriff, also said that they are not playing any blame game with anyone but rather all what they are wishing for is a step on a right direction for our music and culture to be on the global platforms.
And due to this some of Nigerian bloggers has taking Black Sheriff’s statement personal and backlashes and attacking him for saying ” we should play Ghana music more than foreign music”.
