The Adubeahene of Amansie South, Nana Doku Appiah ||, has appealed to the government to address the critical shortage of teachers in the district. According to him, the district is currently facing a severe deficit of educators, with only a fraction of the required 600 teachers in place.

In a recent interview at his palace, Nana Doku highlighted the detrimental impact of the teacher shortage on education in the district. He lamented that many schools in the area were operating with a significantly reduced number of teachers, which was hindering the quality of teaching and learning.

Nana Doku pointed out that the imbalance in teacher distribution between Amansie South and West districts was exacerbating the situation. Due to the shortage of teachers in the West, educators were often retained there, leaving the South with insufficient staffing levels. He urged the authorities to prioritize Amansie South’s need for teachers and ensure that the district received its fair share of educators.

Furthermore, Nana Doku emphasized the need for improved social amenities and infrastructure in the district. He noted that the lack of basic facilities like accommodation was contributing to civil servants’ reluctance to work in Amansie South. Addressing these issues, he argued, was essential to attracting and retaining skilled professionals in the district.

Despite acknowledging the government’s efforts, Nana Doku stressed that more support was required to address the ongoing challenges in Amansie South. He called for swift action to address the teacher shortage and prioritize the district’s development.
