Amansie Central District Commissions Refurbished Fire Service Facility to Bolster Emergency Response

The Amansie Central District Assembly has officially commissioned a newly refurbished facility for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), marking a strategic effort to enhance fire prevention and emergency response capabilities within the district.

The renovated building, now equipped with a dedicated fire bay and hydrant, will serve as the primary operational base for fire personnel deployed to the area. This development represents a significant advancement in the district’s public safety and disaster management infrastructure.

During the commissioning ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central, Hon. Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, popularly known as (Pedro) announced that the Assembly is currently in negotiations with relevant authorities to secure a government-procured fire tender for the station.

The acquisition of this vehicle is critical, as it will allow the facility to attain full fire station status and ensure rapid response times to emergency calls.

Hon. Obeng Agyemang highlighted the historical challenges the district has faced due to the absence of a localized, fully equipped station. “Previously, responding to fire outbreaks required support from the Obuasi Fire Station, leading to inevitable delays that often resulted in the extensive destruction of property and livelihoods. Amansie Central must maintain its own fully functional capacity to protect our residents,” he stated.

The DCE praised the collaborative efforts of the Assembly, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders in bringing the project to fruition. He further underscored the importance of public-private cooperation in driving sustainable district development.

Addressing the community, Hon. Obeng Agyemang urged residents to prioritize fire safety, particularly during the dry season by ensuring the proper maintenance of electrical installations and the safe handling of gas cylinders.

He also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report potential emergencies to fire personnel promptly.

Local leaders and residents have lauded the initiative as a major milestone for safety in the region. The Assembly remains committed to securing the necessary logistics to ensure the station is fully operational and capable of safeguarding the district’s communities.
